PUBLIC EDUCATION PROJECTS
Although poor people lead this movement, it is critical that we educate our allies.?? While that includes just about everyone, it is a focus on the faith community, schools, currently housed workers, union members, civic groups, and government workers including the police.?? This takes concrete form through our:
HOMELESSNESS 101 WORKSHOPS
From 15 minute presentation to all day tours, homeless and formerly homeless people will work with groups of any size to 1) break stereotypes and help you to humanize us, 2) give the real facts on homelessness, 3) understand the root causes and 4) learn how to take concrete actions at many levels.
The 15 Minute Presentation
1 or 2 of our homeless and formerly homeless leaders will come and quickly share with your group: 1) Who we are, 2) a little of our personal stories, and 3) how to get involved.
The 45 Minute ??? 1 Hour Panel Discussion
3 or 4 of our homeless and formerly homeless leaders will 1) Share the Mission and purpose of the NHPP, 2) Personal Testimonies, 3) About our Housing, Worker Rights and other Campaigns, 4) How to Get Involved interspersed with questions and discussion from YOU!
The 1 ??? 3 Hour Homelessness 101 Workshop
3 ??? 6 of us will utilize presentation, role plays, video, small groups and 1-on-1 discussion so that you can develop relationships with homeless people directly in a fun and safe environment, learn the facts and roots causes and then take action.??
The Tour 3 hours to all day
The tour is NOT experiencing homelessness but it is an opportunity to engage directly with homeless and formerly homeless as your guides and then engage with homeless folks on the street directly as engage with other stakeholders that positively and negatively impact homeless people ??? businesses, police, agencies, etc.?? These tours are tailor made to each group.
